
Liliana Viola (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1963)
Writer, journalist, and editor.
In 2025, Tusquets Spain published her biography of Aurora Venturini, Esta no soy yo, the same year she received the Anagrama Prize for Chronicle for La hermana. Among her books, standout titles include the biography Migré. El maestro de las telenovelas que revolucionó la educación sentimental de un país, as well as the archival anthologies El libro de los testamentos and Los discursos del poder. She is also the author of an extensive collection of short stories and children's textbooks.
From 2008 to 2021, she founded and directed SOY, the supplement of the Argentine newspaper Página/12 — the only weekly publication on sexual diversity distributed within a national newspaper. She was a guest curator at the FAQ (Festival de Arte Queer) and has participated in international festivals such as Outburst (Belfast) and Risco (São Paulo). She currently edits the storytelling podcast Me lo llevo a la tumba (Amazon).
Viola has curated exhibitions including Las mujeres de mi vida by Maitena, Las glorias de Urdapilleta at Brandon Gallery, and several SOY cover art retrospectives in cities around the world. She directed the Culture section of the renowned magazine Debate and the lecture and seminar series Proyecto Ballena at the Kirchner Cultural Center. She currently coordinates the Literature program at the San Martín Cultural Center.
Viola has written screenplays, plays, and performance texts. Her play Qué de magnífico tiene ser yo was staged in 2024 at the Teatro General San Martín. She is also the author of the documentary miniseries Testamentos (2000, Canal A) and Mirándote (2018), as well as the interview series Harta del éxito (2019, Canal de la Ciudad).
As the literary executor of Aurora Venturini's work, she is responsible for the critical editions published by Tusquets and is the founder of Editorial de Autora, which releases its first title in 2025: Dolor quiero que seas sólo mío. Poemas escogidos de Aurora Venturini.
